new time travel show coming on nbc
and it sounds like a clone of quantum leap. too bad they just don't bring back quantum leap. there's been talk about a new ql movie leading to a new series for years, but i'm guessing this show pretty much kills that idea.

judas unchained coming in paperback
peter f. hamilton's book, Pandora's Star, is one of the best science fiction books i've read in years. unfortunately, even though it was around 1000 pages, it was only part one of a two part story. the second part, Judas Unchained, came out in hardcover a while ago, but it was also around 1000 pages, which is just too darn big to carry around. (i did buy it though...it sits on my shelf, unopened). now that the paperback is coming out on march 27, i finally get to find out what happens! Link

star trek:tos remasters
all of the episodes of the original (kirk/spock/mccoy) star trek series are being digitally remastered and broadcast on a weekly basis all over the country. the remastering effort consists mainly of new special effects scenes and also most special effects backgrounds like planets, spaceships etc. for the most part these have been pretty cool. this week's remastered episode is my all-time favorite: The Doomsday Machine. check out the story on aintitcoolnews.com. there are several stills showing before and after shots. it looks great! the last childe cycle book
six years after gordon r. dickson passed away, his last book is being published next month. finished by his assistant, david w. wixon, Antagonist picks up where Other left off, continuing the story of Bleys Ahrens. The early review on amazon says that it sucks. i don't care. the real disappointment is that we'll never find out how the series ends. it's a pity dickson decided to backtrack and tell Ahren's story before dealing with the major cliffhanger he left us with in Chantry Guild. anyway, here's a link to dickson's final book, Antagonist.

jobs' "thoughts on music"
jobs does an about-face on drm? on the surface, but if you read this carefully, it's really just a defense of what apple is currently doing. don't hold your breath for the big 4 to eliminate drm.
